About the location: Flo Gallery is the artistic hotspot of Anand, about 77 km from Ahmedabad. For a flavour of international artist Kalpana Amin’s creative flair, visit the Flo Gallery. Here traditional Gujarati style and themes are morphed into utilitarian objects (thick coasters, trays, pen stands, tea lights and more) and curios by Amin’s team at the workshop behind the gallery.
Brief History: Born and raised in Kenya, East Africa, Kalpana Amin always had a creative bent of mind. Needlework, photography, and painting in her youth whetted her artistic skill, until she went to study art Cambridge. She settled in India soon after and started producing original work in clay and paints. She exhibited her work in the country and opened doors to Flo Art in 1995 as a gallery and studio for her work. Kalpana was always drawn to the idea of advancement of underprivileged artisans. The studio is a learning centre for a number of artisans till date who are taught art with different clay forms and textures.
